and high profile trial and case work presentation and preparation.
Michael has conducted numerous criminal cases in all courts in England including appeal hearings before the Court of Appeal.
He has conducted numerous rape and serious sexual abuse trials. He was trial advocate at the CPS Murder Unit where he
juniored several complex Old Bailey murder and other serious high profile crime trials.
Michael was head of CPS Police Prosecution Unit at CPS London. When attached to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 2011,
he was lead lawyer in executing HMG Counter Piracy Strategy within the Indian Ocean where he was assistant to the Attorney
General of Seychelles . Whilst there Michael prosecuted numerous Somali pirate trials and was instrumental in formulating a
coherent and achievable counter piracy legal regime within the Indian Ocean region. He regularly advised government and
diplomatic officials in capacity building and forward planning in prosecution case management and strategic delivery of
effective and efficient legal administration.
Upon return to the UK Michael continued high profile criminal trail casework leaving the CPS in autumn 2013 to resume a
career in private practice. Michael has provided legal training tor the University of Hamburg on aspects of UK criminal law.
He has delivered legal training to The University of Beijing. Michael is an advocacy assessor. Michael is married with four
children and professes to be able to speak reasonable French and Dutch.
